1. Overview & Privacy Commitment
This Privacy Policy applies to the RollBook mobile application for Android (“App”, “we”, “us”, or “our”), developed by simplebuildapps.
We built RollBook with an uncompromising privacy-first philosophy. We believe your academic attendance, schedule, subject lists, and personal productivity data belong solely to you. We do not operate proprietary user-tracking servers, and we never sell, rent, or broker your personal information.
2. Information We Collect & Device Permissions
A. User-Generated Data:
All course titles, schedules, timetables, attendance statuses (Present, Absent, Cancelled, Bunk), student rosters, and threshold settings you enter are stored locally on your device in an offline SQLite database. We cannot see, read, or access this data.
B. Android System Permissions:
WRITE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE / READ_EXTERNAL_STORAGE: Used solely on supported Android versions to allow you to export.bakdatabase backup files and save attendance summaries to your device’s storage.INTERNET & ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE: Required for third-party advertising SDKs (Google AdMob) and optional Google Drive synchronization if you enable cloud backups.POST_NOTIFICATIONS / SCHEDULE_EXACT_ALARM: Used locally on your phone to trigger optional timetable class alerts and daily attendance check-in reminders.
3. Local Database & Offline Architecture
RollBook is designed as a standalone offline utility. You do not need to register an account, provide an email address, or enter a password to use the core application.
Your database resides securely within the sandboxed application directory of your Android operating system.
4. Optional Google Drive Backup & Sync
If you choose to use the optional Google Drive Backup feature:
- You sign in directly with your Google account using standard Google OAuth authorization.
- RollBook only requests restricted access to its own application-specific folder in your private Google Drive space.
- Your encrypted or raw backup archive is uploaded directly between your device and Google servers without passing through any intermediate server operated by simplebuildapps.
- You may revoke this permission at any time via your Google Account Security settings.
5. Advertising (Google AdMob)
To keep RollBook free for students and teachers worldwide, we show non-intrusive advertisements served by Google AdMob.
Google AdMob may automatically collect and use certain non-personal device information, such as your Google Advertising ID (GAID), IP address, app interaction telemetries, and coarse location data (such as country or city level) to serve relevant advertisements in accordance with Google Advertising Policies.
6. Third-Party Service Providers & SDKs
RollBook incorporates trusted third-party SDKs that have their own privacy policies:
7. Diagnostics & Local Log Data
RollBook operates locally on your hardware. In the event of an error, minimal local diagnostic log records remain on your device and are not automatically transmitted to remote servers. If you encounter an issue and contact our developer support team directly, you may optionally share diagnostic details to help us troubleshoot and resolve the problem.
9. Data Retention & Permanent Deletion
Because your records exist strictly on your phone, you maintain full control:
- You can reset or delete specific subject logs inside the App settings.
- You can delete your entire attendance database at any time by selecting Clear Data in Android Settings → Apps → RollBook.
- Uninstalling RollBook permanently purges all local app data from your hardware.
10. Your Privacy Rights (GDPR & CCPA Compliance)
Regardless of whether you reside in the European Union (GDPR), California (CCPA), or elsewhere globally, RollBook adheres to the highest privacy standards:
- Right of Access & Portability: You can export your full attendance records as a portable
.bakbackup file at any moment. - Right to Rectification: You can freely modify, rename, or edit any subject or attendance mark at any time.
- Right to Erasure: You can permanently erase all data simply by clearing the application storage.
- Personal Advertising Opt-Out: You can reset or opt out of personalized ads at any time through your Android OS Settings (“Google → Ads → Reset advertising ID”).
11. Children’s Privacy
RollBook is intended for students and educators aged 13 and above. We do not knowingly solicit or collect personally identifiable information from children under the age of 13. Since all input data stays stored locally on the user’s personal hardware, no children’s data is transmitted to or held on remote servers.
12. Security
We value your trust in using RollBook. The application utilizes Android’s sandboxed filesystem security to safeguard your local database against unauthorized access by other installed applications. We encourage you to protect your device with a secure screen lock (PIN, password, or biometric authentication).
13. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time to incorporate new features or conform with evolving legal requirements. We will notify you of any changes by updating the “Effective Date” at the top of this document. We advise you to review this page periodically for any updates.
